Summary/Abstract: This article presents two poets from Upper Silesia with their different writing biographies: the Professor for German literature studies and poet Peter Horst Neumann, who was expelled from his first homeland in Neisse and fled from his second homeland in Saxony, and the former teacher, novelist, and essayist Werner Heiduczek, who experienced literary success as well as being distrusted and spied upon in the former GDR. Both of them have the relationship to their lost homeland in common— even if it is reflected in their works in different ways.
