Summary/Abstract: PéterZrínyi published the Croatian translation of his brother’s, MiklósZrínyi’s volume entitled Adriaitengernek Syreneaia[The Siren of the Adriatic Sea] from1651. Péter Zrínyi started the translation in the period between 1651 and 1655, at this time is datable the autograph manuscript containing the translation of the first eight songs of Obsidio Szigetiana, today preserved in Vienna. As long as he aimed at accurate translation, granted the Croatian text of the printed epic with the features of the epics prospering in the littoral cities. By the exposure of the social and cultural context of the translation, the study is in search of the reason for the difference between the two readings following each other in time.
