What Business Intelligence system to choose and implement? Perhaps Open Source?

Summary/Abstract: In the article the authors made an attempt to consider the possibility of choosing and implementing Open Source Business Intelligence platform instead of the proprietary system, like Oracle’s, Microsoft’s, IBM or SAP’s one. A brief characteristic of Business Intelligence systems was introduced and the creation and evolution of Open Source Business Intelligence were described. The advantages and disadvantages of those systems were also examined. An exemplary SWOT analysis that can be helpful while choosing Business Intelligence system was carried out.
