Summary/Abstract: Author argues for a historical contextualization of the historical oral traditions. He emphasizes that by historically contextualizing an oral tradition we are trying to detect a relevant context for a particular historical oral tradition, from which we can try to gain more insight into the tradition`s form, content, and development. He applies historical contextualization approach on two case studies: Oral tradition about the miraculous painting of the Madonna from Kondžilo, and oral tradition about Skakava monastery.
