The gathered lexical material from the first seven letters of the main hero Konrad Rutkovsky will be divided in four associativelysemantic groups with central notions GOD, CHURCH, MAN and DEVIL. The last group is used for signalisation of faustian motive and infernal meaning of its lexems is attributed to specific themes and characters. Lexemes from other three groups, which meaning could be defined as religiously-sacral, are used in parodical context. During the research of lexemes, it has been made a difference between their basic meaning and their textual meaning. Also the attention has been paid to mode of their materialization in microcontext and macrocontext. The goal of this research was to describe how Pekić stylistically creates infernal atmosphere and parody in his novel.
