Summary/Abstract: The article describes the influence of the French writer Francis Jammes on Ilya Ehrenburg, who initially tried his hand as a poet. The young author finds his inspiration in the works of F. Jammes. His religiosity was extraordinary as it combined the Canons of Catholicism, Paganism, religion, feeling of harmony and belonging to the life of the Universe. Creative tonality of the French writer has found a deep response in the soul of Ehrenburg. The aesthetic views of I. Ehrenburg shaped under the influence of F. Jammes can be seen in the articles of the Russian writer. However, I. Ehrenburg freed himself from the influence of F. Jammes; the “calm” piety and faith in the idealistic structure of the world was too easy for the Russian writer. The passion for the poetry and philosophy can’t be called a simple hobby of an interpreter and a young poet. The attempt to grasp the vision of another person turned into a reasonable disappointment for I. Ehrenburg. Over time I. Ehrenburg called it childishness and spoke openly about imitativeness.
