Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the analysis of perception in the aesthetic created by polish phenomenologist Roman Ingarden in the first half of the twentieth century. The author's intention was to show the basic ideas of the philosopher about art reception, the complexity of the act of aesthetic experience and comparison of Ingarden’s theory with hedonistic art reception. In the concluding remarks of this article there is an attempt to transfer Ingarden's aesthetic theory on the selected contemporary trends in art.
