Summary/Abstract: In the article the author presents a person, activity and views of Stanisław Wojciechowski (1869–1953). Wojciechowski is a theorist of the social and national movement, one of the founders of the Polish Socialist Party (PPS), active fighter for independence, organizer of the cooperative movement, a prominent politician and a state activist, president of the Polish Republic. His work was determined by the principles of regain and preservation of independence, the principle of social justice and civil liberty and the preservation of the democratic system. Observation of life, as well as his political and social activity, confirmed him in the belief that to achieve the so-formed society, the economic and moral changes of society are necessary. The possibility of the rebirth of the Polish nation he found in cooperatism.
