Summary/Abstract: BIM (Building Information Modeling) is very often analyzed area in scientific articles of construction engineering and management. Foreign authors emphasize the importance of the Building Information Model for the construction industry. Designing with BIM means to create elements that have their own settings, not drawing seperate lines. BIM connects various building construction influencing factors: time, cost, lighting, geographical location, building materials, quantities, etc.. This article discusses the building information modeling advantages and disadvantages. One of the biggest advantage of BIM is an easy error-disposal, because all information is stored in one model, and when an error occurs, it is easy to correct the mistake, and it is sufficient to do it in one place. On the other hand, there is a small probability that all project‘s participants will use one design system, because usually it is not one company‘s work. In addition, the BIM programs are complicated and highly loaded. When all criteria is analyzed, BIM technologies influence for job efficiency is discussed. 100 multi-storey buildings (skyscrapers) were selected to evaluate the efficiency. Calculations show that Building Information Modeling not always speeds up the construction process. Buildings that were constructed without using BIM were built faster than buildings in which BIM was used. BIM is required for design when there will be made a fully integrated project. Using the Building Information Model for the individual parts of the project without the use of the central file, there is a possibility to waste time for changing program formats, often even redrawing the drawings.
