Summary/Abstract: Does two/multi-speed Europe constitute a threat to future European integration or is italready a long-standing reality of the European Union? As the first months of 2017 have shown, the future of integration will be about more differentiation, so this seems a good moment toreflect on the types of differentiation we are facing. Is it about different integration speed atthe policy level or about segmentation at the institutional/ constitutional level? This articlelooks at various logics of differentiation, while pointing to the dilemmas that EU peripheralcountries face with regard to the eurozone centre as well as the limits of the “rebel” strategyas opposed to the “policy-taker” strategy.
