Summary/Abstract: This article presents the results of a research conducted within the EuropeanIRNet project. In the research, the place and role of the distance learning technologies in the knowledge transfer system of a modern university were described. The main goal of the article is to describe the results of the data domain analysis concerning the possibility of development and introduction of the academic massive open online courses (MOOC) platform. The authors identified the architecture and main functional requirements to the academic MOOC platform as an effective tool to optimise the processes of knowledge transfer in the system of teacherstudent.
