Economic Justification of Turning Pastures into Immortelle Growing

Summary/Abstract: For quite a number of years now we have been witnessing the abandonment of pasture cattle breeding in western, southern, and south–western Herzegovina. Most of these pastures have turned into impenetrable thickets and have been out of their original use for a long time. However, pursuant to the Law on Agricultural Land of the Federation B&H, pastures may be used for some other crop, but only in case of higher economic profitability of the crop in question. This paper proves the economic profitability of immortelle production on newly–cultivated plots – former pastures, present plough-fields.
