Summary/Abstract: The object of this article is to give an evidence and interpretation of copula constructions in Albanian language and to focus on its contribution to syntactic and semantic relations in the frame of copular sentences. Copula has been object of previous syntactic analyses, focused on the interpretation of nominal predicate in Albanian linguistics. There are two distinct interpretation of the nominal group related to copula in Albanian language: a) as predicate nominal; b) as complement. To give a more acceptable and mature decision on this topic, we take in consideration the semantic status of copula and its organizing role inside the predicate nominal. Under the generative grammar principles, we will analyse the copula constructions and will argue, based on the clear evidences, that it is more reasonable to interpret the nominal group, being the head of the verbal phrase, as predicate nominal.
