Summary/Abstract: How does the modern Arab-Muslim poet, especially Tahar Ben Jelloun inherit from the religious tradition of the past and transform it into a poetic agent? This article attempts to answer this question by analyzing the elegies of La remontée des cendres and Non identifiés, poems by Tahar Ben Jelloun about the Palestinian conflict and the Gulf War, making use of phenomenology, arts and aspects of the sacred in Islam.
