Electoral Administration in Serbia – Presidential Elections 2017.

Summary/Abstract: Fair and free elections are an essential element of a democratic system. The election management and electoral administration are one of the most important mechanisms in the protection and the exercise of electoral rights and the legal framework for the implementation of all electoral activities. Serbia as the country of the new democracy does not stand out from the comparative practice in terms of the election administration, but in practice the electoral body, and above all, the Republican Electoral Commission, faced a series of difficulties. In the presidential elections of 2017 a similar scenario repeated as in the previous, so that the change of the electoral administration should be part of electoral reforms.
