Summary/Abstract: In this article we present the biography of Eduardo Manet and Emile Ollivier and their relation to French, as a borrowed language, the language of the exile in Tunisia. We explain the choice of this language as their writing language, which is felt as a geographic and linguistic exile. Manet’s and Ollivier’s approaches are, nevertheless, different, as one has Cuban roots, and the other is Haitian, but they aim at describing their native land into French during their exile.
