Summary/Abstract: French writer Pierre Loti (1850-1923) went twice to Romania, invited by Queen Elizabeth (Carmen Sylva), in 1887 and 1890. She translated his novel Pêcheur d’Islande in German and, thanks to Loti, her Pensées d’une reine was published in France. The year she died, in 1916, a young Romanian Ph. D. professor, read Pierre Loti’s works on the war front and he became his first biographer.
