Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to determine the edible oil consumption profiles by using data mining methods. Different data mining methods were employed at data preprocessing phase, and decision trees were employed at modeling phase. The data were obtained from Turkish Statistical Institute’s Household Budget Survey. The resulting decision tree showed that the most distinctive attribute on edible oil consumption was household size. The other distinctive factors were income, household head’s age and gender, the existence of a fifty years old or older person, existence of a five years old or younger person, automobile ownership, residing in rural or urban area, heating type, detached house ownership and easiness of accessing to the banking facilities. Consequently the number of people in the household, income and income related other socio-economic factors, residing in rural area, urban area or in the city center were significant factors on edible oil consumption.
