Do Foreign Direct Investments Increase Income Inequality? Empirical Evidence from the Turkey Economy

Summary/Abstract: In crease at the income inequality has been attracting attention not just in developing countries but also in developed countries across the world. Examining the reasons of increasing income inequality is the one of major topics in the current economics literature. However, foreign direct investment can be assumed as one of the determinants of income inequality. The aim of the study is to analyze the relationship between income inequality and foreign direct investment for Turkey by using Cointegration and VAR analyzes. Results indicate that there is not along term relationship from foreign direct investment to income inequality while there is a short term relationship at very low level with negative sign.
