Summary/Abstract: The ministry of the confessor is very demanding on the one hand and, on the other very obliging. Confessor is a witness of intimate encounter of a sinful man with pardoning God. During the sacrament of penance the penitent reveals the most difficult, the most humiliating and most painful moments of life. Shows all his weakness, misery and sinfulness. Such condition is not easy to share with other man. Often it is a matter of talk with confessor. Therefore, confessor should be a witness of great confidence which was given to him through penitent and through Christ, who makes him the instrument of His forgiving, merciful love. Such ministry requires from the confessor absolute confidentiality. The effect of breaking the confidentiality of confession, is punishment of the confessor. Breaking the secret of confession also weaken and often destroys the trust towards the confessor. This ministry teaches us to respect the penitent who returns from his sinful way.
