Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is a reflection on the possibility of using a TV animated series as a tool of social activation and spreading equality. The author presents the educational potential of popular culture focusing her analysis on the animated series for children. The basic observation is that nowadays there are some cartoons with girl leads, but all these female characters live in a world monopolized by boys. In animated world there are only a few examples of girls’ friendships and groups of girls are almost absent. On the other hand, new cartoons are more and more emancipating and some of them offer empowerment to young girls. This article reports the findings of a study conducted in Poland.
