Summary/Abstract: The article is a trigger for further studies of the oldest inventories of the Library of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (the Academy of Catholic Theology until the year 1999). In thirty-three volumes of inventory books the unique collection of 24,000 volumes is described (including 482 antique books). The collection is the legacy of library resources of the Faculties of Theology in Jagiellonian and Warsaw Universities both abolished by the authorities of Polish People’s Republic in 1954. The data included all through the years in the inventories of which the oldest are dated back to the eighties of the 19th century may be treated as an extraordinary material for further studies on the collection of books and the library.
