Re-thinking the Concepts of Our (Philosophical) Identities

Summary/Abstract: Historians of philosophy often meet the problems of the (European and national) canons. My paper offers a new approach of this problem, based on certain theories of communication. At first I will analyse some concepts of Manuel Castells, György Márkus and Hannah Arendt (timeless time, space of flow; anti-modern fundamentalism preying upon the modern world; selflessness), offering good tools for a description of the new nature of the identity of a community; then I will try to demonstrate the adequacy of this framework of concepts for the description of the structure of the systematic canon-making in the history of philosophy.
