Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the subject-predicate relations of the construction with a preposition u, which is the basic means for transmitting a message about a person, and therefore widespread in Russian. The original locative meaning of the preposition u causes conjugation of denotative aspects of subjectivity with its spatial interpretation (place). In most cases the subjectivity of a possessor in the prepositional phrase u is supported by thematicity and referential definiteness. Therefore, the possessor, given by the previous text, is often represented as a starting point of the situation. And the situation, described by the other parts of the sentence, serves as a property or state attributed to the possessor. Thus, a subject-predicate relation is established between the possessor in the prepositional phrase u and the other parts of the sentence.
