Summary/Abstract: The subject of research in this article are the grotesque creations of senile body present in the novel ofSlobodan Novak „Fragrances, Gold and Frankincense”. Based on Bakhtin’s theory of the grotesque body theauthor distinguishes various creations of senile body in the form of hybridization, zoomorphisation or humanbody objectification. In the grotesque representations of the senile body, the author also perceives the ritualsof food consumption and body orifices discharge, known inter alia from ribald prose of François Rabelais.
