Safety of exploitation of heat pumps and refrigeration devices – in regard of the environment

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem of exploitation of refrigeration systems and heat pumps in terms of refrigerant emissions to the atmosphere. These substances are responsible for destroying the ozone layer, and to a large extent for the greenhouse effect. Safe exploitation of devices containing refrigerants aims to reduce their emissions and reduce energy consumption to propel them. The article presents a definition of indicators ODP and GWP. An analysis of the index TEWI for water source heat pump operating period of 10 years and interpreted its individual components was made. The calculations were performed in regard of four refrigerants: R-404A, R-407C, R-410A and R-600a.
