Summary/Abstract: The essence of pre-election silence is to create conditions in which voters could form their electoralpreferences and cast their votes freely and without political canvassing. The main aim of thisarticle is to answer the questions about the sense of pre-election silence in the era of new media (especially the Internet) and about the violations of pre-election silence on the Internet. The reason for addressing this issue is the appearance of both: a large number of media reports about onlinecanvassing and doubts about the sense of continuing the functioning of pre-election silence
