Fr. Mieczysław Olszewski PhD – Director of the Library of Archdiocesan Theological Seminary in Białystok

Summary/Abstract: Fr. Mieczysław Olszewski served as the director of the Library of Archdiocesan heological Seminary in Białystok from 1989 up to 2016. Together with the seminary’s board he initiated building of a new library facilities, which today houses a reading-room, storehouses, working rooms and administrative room. During 27 years of his work, the library increased its collection by 30,000 publications, including 3,200 underground publications, many periodical titles and special collections in number of 15,501 volumes. The library became a member of the Federation of the Church Libraries (FIDES) – where it participates in effort undertaken to create joint database, furthermore – it started active cooperation with NUKAT and KaRo and is currently working to make its collection available in Podlaska Digital Library.
