Summary/Abstract: The history of local self-government in small towns of former Pomeranian Voivodeship, as well as towns in other voivodeships of Royal Prussia, has not been the subject of complex scientific research yet. There is still the lack of basic research, which would depicture their system of government and history in a wider temporal and territorial perspective. The article presents changes in the local self-government of one of the Civitates Minors Terrarum Prussia – Nowe located by Vistula River. The Author focuses on the events which took place from 1763 to 1768 when some of the prominent councilors and jurors were deprived of their functions, which is well documented in the archives of this city. It is a contribution to the research on the self-government of Nowe and other small Prussian towns that are still waiting which wider scientific description. The article also shows the practical side of self-government in small Prussian towns, which is a novum in the research conducted in this field.
