Summary/Abstract: The analysis of various forms of self-identity in the post-industrial society is held. The attention is concentrated on the fact that the modern world needs a new type of the man, which is able to adapt to new life conditions quickly, is tend to self-development and self-learning. Rapid social transformation of the information society lead to the need for the formation of new features in the character of a person, among which the most significant is the ability not only to adapt to the changes, but to be constantly engaged in self-education and self-development. Without the ability to "mobile" transformations the person can hardly be successful and self-fulfilled entity of modern society. Here one of the main roles should be played by education, scientific research activities and guidance; they are becoming critical factors in the development of modern society.Main types of manifestations of self-identity are elucidated, which include: active self-realization, social self-realization and personal self- realization. The author focuses on the question: What is the most significant in this familiar typology nowadays? And comes to the conclusion that it depends on what model of self-realization a person will choose, because the era of the information society not only imposes numerous requirements but it offers modern person many options of choice, development strategies of life events. The essence of the content of the concept of "strategy of self-realization" is being analyzed; in this way increasingly conscious nature of the process is emphasized. The strategy of self-realization presents the relations between far and near prospects. If strategy for the realization is integrated properly it is the strategy of distant prospects. Otherwise the strategy of close prospects prevails, dominated by the orientation (set) at a violent situation, i.e. the situation is perceived as stronger in relation to human resources. Therefore, frustration, internal conflict, withdrawal from the solution of vital problems occurs. The author proposes the idea of the relation of the process of self-realization in the modern world with media-environment. Media can affect the process of self-realization, taking a lot of person’s time acting via different channels (television, Internet, etc.) on the formation and deformation of our desires, aspirations and wishes to plan, to do, or to change in something our life. Additionally, through media channels manipulation can occur, especially the formation of certain patterns of thinking, perception of information or attitude to something or someone.Self-realization of an individual in the information society is inseparably linked with the various media channels; media is a powerful factor of self-realization of a modern person. In general, self-realization of the entity of the XXI century is directly linked to the available resources of the educational environment and its impact on the formation of adequate perception of oneself in the post-industrial/information society.
