External academic mobility of students: case for Ukraine

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is an analysis of the external academic mobility in Ukraine and recommendations for attracting students to participate in programs of international mobility. The study of the most important trends of external academic mobility of Ukrainian students has been conducted by using questionnaires. The article is the presentation of the most important trends of external academic mobility of Ukrainian students. The reasons of activation and key barriers of student participation in academic exchange programs have been analyzed. The recommendations for the attracting students to participate in academic mobility programs and establishing institutional contacts through migrants have been made. The results of the study were used by International Organization Department of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University to improve existing programs of academic mobility and overcoming obstacles regarding the participation of students in them. Conclusions and recommendations of the article are useful to identify new trends in development of educational policy of the Ukrainian government in terms of integration in the modern European knowledge society.
