Summary/Abstract: The end of the 20th century was marked by numerous social changes that were the origins of many social processes that have shaped, and will shape, the image of the world as we have today. Globalization is a complex process that has significantly changed the image of the world in all social spheres: economic, political, military, environmental, technological, cultural etc. The processes of globalization, modernisation and transition, growing social conflicts, acceleration in technology development, individualization, and many other features of the modern world impose day to day challenges to preservation of human identity, of human Self. In many cases and within these conditions, national identity became a solution to these problems by providing a firm foothold in the dizzying changes of modern times.
