Summary/Abstract: We have recently celebrated seven decades from the reactivation of the Banat Mitropoly. On 24.04.1947, after the grandiose Timişoara cathedral was consecrated, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided upon elevating the bishop stage in Timişoara to the archbishopric stage, a decision that was consolidated by the state law no. 195 of 7.06.1947, undersigned by King Michael and the ministers Radu Roşculeţ and Lucreţiu Pătrăşcanu (of Cults and Justice), with the specification that the principal of the Romanian Orthodox Bishopric is now the Romanian orthodox archbishop of Timişoara. And within the same year, on 24.06, the Romanian patriarch, the worthy Nicodim Munteanu, would sign the register that would confirm such an action.
