Summary/Abstract: As an important and functional skill of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, writing education consists of some certain steps and principles. Individuals become involved in communication and interaction processes as they need to understand and explain things. This happens when basic language skills based on understanding and explaining can be used in an effective way. As a sub-field of explaining skills, writing implies the written depiction of emotions, thoughts and knowledge. Writing education contains a process of reviewing, arranging and transforming the pre-information. Moreover, writing education integrates the ordering, limiting, arranging the thoughts and writing rules with practice. Writing education begins with a cognitive preparation, then after defining the purpose of writing in proper methods, the theme of the text is narrowed down, and the statements are written down in accordance with the rules. During the process of transmitting the emotions and thoughts to the receiver in a proper way, it is highly important that the transmitter writes or arranges her/his statements according to writing rules or the system called spelling. Spelling and punctuation can be regarded as very efficient in improving writing skills. Therefore, they are involved in each grade of primary and higher education in Turkish or writing skill lessons. It is of high importance to use spelling and punctuation properly and efficiently in writing education in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, as they enable the individuals to write down a certain text in accordance with a structure. An efficient and successful writing education necessitates a process of comprehending and applying spelling and punctuation rules.
