Summary/Abstract: The article contains information about people's notions about angels and the rolethey play in human life. Starting from the presentation of the heavenly forces hierarchyby Pseudo-Dionysius, the authors focus their attention on how people pictured angelsas God's emissaries. Much space is devoted to contemporary relations, confirming thepresence of the angels on earth also today. The texts of folk songs are also analysed, in which the angels accompany not only people, but also the Mother of God and thesaints. Folk images of angels and the angel's features are also represented by theidiomatic expressions and anthroponyms, both secular and religious.
