Summary/Abstract: This analytic paper provides an answer to the question why and in what extension two relevant parliamentary political parties – G17 Plus and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) could be accurately described as liberal parties, as they declares themselves. In order to provide answer to the above question, author shortly presents the main tendencies of incorporation of Western liberal ideological matrix into the post- communists countries of Central- Eastern Europe. Special emphasis is focused on describing of the “fore- runners” of liberalism in Serbia – so called “anarchist- liberals” – reformist- oriented communist leadership of Serbia who were trying during 60- 70- ies of the last century to implement market oriented, laisseiz- faire project of modernization in Serbian socialist economy. Author highlights the fact of discontinuity in the existence of the so called “liberal axis” in Serbian politics – the fact that liberal- oriented politicians and politics has been completely silenced during the past three decades of the XX century, after the fall of the Serbian “anarchist- liberals”. Not before entering the second decade of restoration of political pluralism the two liberal parties – G 17 Plus and LDP have been founded. With them, liberal option starts again to rehabilitate, to redefine and promote on the Serbian political scene. Analysis of party programs of these two parties in relation to the fundamental values of liberalism: non- intervention of the state, principle of citizenship, liberty and market economy shows that G17 Plus has managed to elaborate ideologically consistent (neo)liberal matrix, while LDP has showed unusual measure of eclecticism, even unexpected ideological deviation. Of which are the most illustrative great animosity which this party express towards the state and its institutions - that is typical for anarchists, and advocacy of this party for implementation of the corrective justice – lustration, that is also symptomatic for revolutionary – orthodox leftist parties. In this regard, LDP could be described as “anarchist-liberal” party, while G17 Plus can be described as (neo) liberals. In the economic domain, both parties are positioned in the ideological orbit of social- liberals.
