Home telecare in elderly care – experiences of communities in Pomorskie voivodship

Summary/Abstract: The author looks at the home telecare (sometimes wrongly identified as telemedicine), i.e. remote care of elderly and physically less able people, which provides the support and reassurance needed by them to continue living in their own homes. The paper presents the experience of implementation of such type of care in the communities of the Pomorskie voivodship in Poland. The author discusses the idea of home telecare systems created by communities, as well as conditions that need to be met in order to ensure their effectiveness and usefulness.
