Summary/Abstract: It’s a well-known fact that it takes ages for learners to have competence in productive skills in foreign language learning. Learners cannot decide what, how and when to write, that’s to say, they do not know what, how and when to produce the target language. That’s among the reasons why learners have difficulty in writing as well as in speaking. According to Process Writing Approach, writing is not a product, but a process. This approach makes learners focus on the process before they produce something and on the process at the time of production. Thus, it makes a hard stage easier for learners. This study presents whether Process Writing Approach changes students’ thoughts, attitudes and actions against writing. At first, a questionnaire will be applied in order to identify how students perform writing activity in this study of which experiment group is the first year student of English Translation and Interpretation Department in Kırıkkale University. Next, an application of Process Writing Approach will be accomplished during six weeks. Then, the same questionnaire will be re-applied at the end of the learning process that ends with a portfolio. How students’ thoughts, attitudes and actions against writing change will be identified at the end of the comparison of the data taken from the pre and post questionnaires. Some implications and suggestions about whether Process Writing Approach can be used in writing lessons in terms of students’ ideas will be declared at the end of study.
