Non-governmental organizations as an expression of the realization of the idea of civil society

Summary/Abstract: One of the basic ideas and principles of the Polish Constitution of 1997 is the principle of civil society. This principle is also reflected in ordinary legislation. One of its manifestations is the right of citizens to set up non-governmental organizations. Non-governmental organizations represent the interests of citizens and cooperate with the administration of a state in the implementation of public tasks. Particularly, such is the nature of charitable organizations. The activity of non-governmental organizations is an important guarantee instrument of the above mentioned constitutional principle of civil society.
