Summary/Abstract: In this research, the learning motivation of the students who learn German as a second foreign language is searched. Second foreign language learning begins with after learning a foreign language. First foreign language is always the start point for the students who learn second foreign language. The students begin the second foreign language with the habits and the strategies that when he/she learned first foreign language before and while he/she is learning second foreign language, generally gets some help from his/her first foreign language. In this research by the help of questionnaire when they learned second foreign language, how the students were motivated, whether or not they could corralate with English as their first foreign language and its effection on their motivation was revealed with the help of the students who learned German as a second language. Today motivation which must be importantly emphasized in the field of education, not only takes interest in achieving a goal but also starts a range of functional chain in students’ behaviours. First of all the students who have motivation, have got an enormous energy and it is clear that in learning phase how their behaviours will be able to oriented. Motivation raises the energy and goal-directed determination and provides the developing of learning strategies. The students who show behavior like ambitions, insistent and also goal-directed determination, means that the student is highly motivated. This reasearch’s results are of capital importance that understanding the meaning of why German as a second language is chosen most.
