Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the short story «Теперь, когда я проснулся» by Valery Yakovlevich Bryusov. The short story is supposed to be according to its main theme — the longing for absolute individual freedom — one of a lot of similar short stories and novels of the so called Silver Age of Russian literature. Also mentioned are the themes of hostility between the both sexes, of rational and irrational, of madness, life and death or murder and suicide.
