Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to propose an alternative process to the teaching of figurative expressions in English, and determine the effects of the mentioned process. The pre-test re-test experimental design approach is used with 22 participants who are 2nd year undergraduate students of Ankara University Faculty of Letters, Department of Linguistics. The data collected through pre-test and re-test are analysed using SPSS with paired samples t-test. The findings collected at the end of the teaching process show positive effects of the proposed process and that the participants can understand and use the aimed linguistic features.
