Summary/Abstract: This article was presented at the “7th Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching in the World” held by TOMER on 3-4 May 2007, and focused on the Cultural Studies seminar followed at the Türkçe Department of Duisburg-Essen University. In the text, which introduced the programme developed for the second and third generation teachers to teach Turkish as the mother tongue at middle schools and high schools in Germany, how the course of country information, which is a discipline on foreign language teaching, has developed through the history was touched upon; some observations regarding the university students whose parents emigrated from Turkey in different years; the context and aim of the Cultural Studies course that is applied at the university have been put forward; examples from applications that support the seminar have been given.
