Summary/Abstract: The article are ways of expressing emotions in Joachim Lelewel’s emigration letters.Externalization of emotions takes place in the studied texts in two ways: through communication and expression. Ways of expressing the emotions of the sender basically divided into two groups: the first includes methods suitable expression marked by emotional thanks to the use of tokens in the second they are related to the organization of speech. Emotionality is revealed at various levels of language use in the system and text (including self-commentary, diminutive and hypocorism, metaphor, irony, connotation,potocyzmy, loans biblical rhetorical questions, sentences, exclamation marks, apostrophes). Emotionality can be considered a feature Lelewel’s idiolect.
