Summary/Abstract: The topic of the new role of the media and public relations in politics in the process of globalization is extensive and supertopical, the changes there are permanent and dynamic. Therefore, we will dwell on just three key issues: outline the role of public relations in Karl Deutsch’s cascade model of public opinion formation; consider the transformation of the media role in the net society and put forward a case study from practice: the 2001 G-8 summit in Genoa.
