Summary/Abstract: The analysis of economic and legal environment in Serbia shows that there has been a significant improvement, which has in turn enhanced the quality of the investment environment. Despite that, according to most influential international reports on the quality of business and investment climate, Serbia deserves a relatively poor grade. The most problematic areas for business comprise inefficient state bureaucracy, corruption, collecting taxes, as well as application of law and regulations. Bearing that in mind, Serbian government officials should continuously improve overall quality of business environment, paying special attention to the most problematic areas in order to improve investment climate, and facilitate free movement of capital and development of the capital market.
