Summary/Abstract: On the example of Mark Aldanov’s tetralogy The Thinker the present author traces the mason theme so important for Aldanov’s history of philosophy. Mason ideology influenced Mark Aldanov’s artistic outlook and equipped him with a balanced worldview of freethinking and faith, active participation in events and reliance on luck, aspiration for moral self-perfection and fondness of symbolism, especially where the latter applied to recurrence of events in history.
