Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to perception of Vladimir Makanin’s work. Over 40 years of his literature activity is presented from the point of view of a particular book reader — a book reviewer. This work is an attempt to specify the nature of critical-literary articles on Makanin’s work. This outline is to be helpful in finding an answer to the question on the writer’s phenomenon, whose stories, regardless of social and political circumstances, have always enjoyed popularity.
