Summary/Abstract: Investigative, high-quality journalism is reporting through journalist’s own initiative, about timely public matters of importance to citizens. The subject of the reporting wishes the matters under scrutiny to remain undisclosed. The reporter takes an initiative, pulls together information ranging from documents to important human sources and reveals a practice that affects everybody. The investigation includes social sciences’ methodologies (the ideal investigative journalist’s methodology, Paul Williams, 1976): investigative projects proceed through 11 stages from conception to publication. In Serbia, the practice of investigative journalism under restrictive press laws, exists from l970. Investigative reporters are focusing on a major political scandal after 2000, the Prime Minister assassination.
