Summary/Abstract: The general and particular conditions of the FIDIC contract crowns the experience in international construction works of the most reputed international specialists. Using their legal, technical and economic experience in major investment projects, they have managed to develop the most balanced standard forms of construction contracts, used widely worldwide. Managing to overcome the barriers imposed by the different legal systems the FIDIC contracts are recognized for exceptional flexibility drafting, allowing their use in both countries functioning under the"common law” system and the legal systems that are based on civil codes .This article aims to carry out a review of how the International Federation of Consulting Engineers succeeded in more than 50 years to develop the most popular suite of construction contracts, adjudicating a leading position worldwide in this domain.
